Christmas Assembly
Last Friday morning, the whole school came together for a special assembly led by Mrs. Lawson. This time of the year although is special to Jewish People, it is also special for Christians, like Mrs. Lawson, who celebrate the festival of Christmas.
Mrs. Lawson spoke to the children about the story behind the celebrations of Christmas and how she celebrates it in Church and at home. Did you know that Mrs. Lawson will be singing carols and Christmas hymns in Church as part of her Church choir? At the end of the assembly Mrs. Lawson spoke about Christmas being a festival of lights, similar to Chanukah. The whole school sang a rendition of ‘This little light of mine’, learning the Makaton signs to match.
Following on from the assembly back in the classrooms, yesterday afternoon the children discussed the story with their teachers and the traditions that are paired with this time of year. We focused on having special family time and greeting one another. Each child in Year 1 to Year 6 made a handmade Christmas card that we will be delivering to our Brodetsky neighbours in the Primleys and the Wentworths to share a little bit of our Brodetsky Spirit.
Wishing all those who celebrate a very Merry Christmas,
Mr. Y
