Bike Repairs
Today Matthew from Kovrlija and co mobile bike repair was in school tuning up over 50 bikes for our pupils and parents. This was a free service organised by Alwoodley 2030: Climate Action Hub as we prepare for Walk to School week (7th – 10th May). The Eco-committee have been helping to promote the event and interviewed Matthew during the day. Matthew had worked in a bike shop for 15 years before setting up as a mobile bike mechanic 4 years ago. He works throughout Leeds and the surrounding areas repairing and fine-tuning all sorts of bikes. Today he was carrying out an ‘M check’ of the bikes in school – making sure tyres, brakes, seats, handlebars and pedals were all ok – replacing brake blocks and cables if needed. Matthew stated that he loved cycling and had over 20 bikes at home. He hoped that the Walk to School initiative would encourage more children to walk or ride to school.
