Year 1 Trip to Shul
In preparation for the Year 1 Shabbat at Etz Chaim and as part of their topic of the Shul and the Rabbi, the Year 1 children and their teachers went on a walking trip to the Etz Chaim. They had a tour of the Shul (synagogue), saw a real Sefer Torah and learnt lots of facts. The whole experience brought to life the tehory that they have been learning at school with their teacher. All the children had a really wonderful time. Thank you to our family volunteers for helping to make this happen.
When the children came back to school Mrs Graham asked the children what they thought of the trip and what they remembered. Here are some of the comments:
Sophie said: We learnt about the Torah
Milena remembered: Etz Chaim means Tree of Life
Sianne explained: We learnt that Aron Hakodesh is the Ark’s name in Hebrew
Nina recalled: A Yad is a pointing stick to protect the Torah
Betty reported that her favourite part was when: We sang Adon Olam and Anim Zemirot
Looking forward to seeing all the Year 1s and their families (and anybody else who would like to join) at the Etz Chaim this Shabbat for the special occasion.
