How are we all connected
What a great day we have had in school.
It started this morning with listening to ‘This is the Greatest Show,’ from the movie The Greatest Showman and then in classes creating a giant domino about recognising how we are all linked to our classmates. Children identified that somehow we are all connected, either through likes and dislikes, personalities, features and much more. In the afternoon we all enjoyed watching the movie (though I was watching the children for their responses). We are so proud of how mature and sensible the children were (Reception through to Year 6) whilst watching the film and they were not phased by any of the characters or themes. As adults it made us reflect that children really do see things through ‘innocent eyes’ as Mrs Seaton put it and that prejudices are created in later life. We are working with clear minds and it is important that we influence them and nurture them to understand the ‘celebration of humanity’- quote from the film!
Today’s linked activity:
How are we all connected activity:
Each child makes a set of 3 dominos.
Each domino has 2 words and or pictures that represent or identify the child.
In small group of 3/4 children need to work together to connect all the dominos.
Differentiate according to your class’ needs.
Maybe you could try this at home with your family?
