Forest School

The Forest School Association – Forest School is an inspirational process, that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.

Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and compliments the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.

FOREST SCHOOL AT BRODETSKY

We are fortunate enough to have large broadleaved woodland in the school grounds which gives children the opportunity to experience learning outdoors.

Children in nursery, Reception and Year 1 have been working with Mrs Senior – a Forest School Leader – to develop their creativity, resilience and independence skills as well as learning about their environment.

The children have had the opportunity of cooking and eating outdoors as well as using tools, pond dipping, mini-beast hunting, making dens, leaf crowns and perfume.

Some children have learnt to tie knots and paint using natural materials. Children who visit also meet the woodland keeper – Thistle the elf – who makes sure the woodland is looked after.
